Privacy Policy All data you submit to us is kept strictly private and will not be shared with anyone for any reason or any price unless requested legally by the authorities. Only the information you choose to make publicly available will be visible to the public. This policy is subject to change without notice. If you require further information regarding any of this policy, please contact us. *** Terms of Use By using this website you are agreeing to be bound by its terms and conditions, as stated here. These terms of use are subject to change without notice. The Tain does not guarantee access to its site or content and cannot be held responsible for any downtime it may experience. The Tain also cannot guarantee that certain ISPs or filters will not block it or its content. All users must be respectful to and of each other and the Administration. Continued disrespectful behaviour may be considered abusive and will be dealt with accordingly (see "Abuse"). Content The Tain is a file and content hosting service related to the "Myth" series, owned by Take2 Interactive. All content submitted by users remains the property of its respective owners, but may be removed from The Tain at any time by its Administrators for any reason. Users who wish to remove their own property may contact the Administration and request that their content be taken down; reasonable efforts will be undertaken to ensure that the request is genuinely from the owner of the content before complying with the request. The Tain does not take responsibility for any content or links submitted by users, including reviews, descriptions and the contents of any files uploaded by users. However, The Tain's Administration reserves the right to modify or delete content that constitutes what the Administration considers abusive (see "Abuse"). All statistics generated by The Tain, as well as its interface, graphics, layout, structure and design, are property of The Tain and its owners. Abuse User accounts may be revoked if abuse is suspected. Abuse includes (but is not limited to) repeatedly ignoring warnings from the Administration, linking to or submitting offensive material (that includes pornographic text, images or movies, graphic depictions of real violence, racist, sexist or otherwise inflammatory remarks or comments, spamming and other material that is deemed offensive by the Administration) and clear violations of copyright. If a user deems some content to be abusive or offensive, he or she may contact the Administration with a request for its modification or removal. The Administration reserves the right not to act on any such request. *** About The Tain is a file hosting archive dedicated to the "Myth" series: Myth: The Fallen Lords, Myth 2: Soulblighter and Myth 3: The Wolf Age. Once upon a time there was nothing, and user plugins were shared haphazardly. If mapmakers were not part of larger collectives, it was difficult for them to spread their works beyond small circles of friends and their friends. Then there was the Mill, the hub of the mapmaking community for many years, whose history is chronicled elsewhere. Sadly, the Mill expired, and mapmakers were left in their original state of disarray. Now, however, The Tain has been assembled - not by the Smiths of Muirthemne but by Project Magma. The Tain contains the contents of the Mill before its fall and will host new content submitted by users. Users can also write reviews of content, search the archive and browse it. There is also a forum where users can discuss the Myth games, The Tain, its content, mapmaking in general and even the philosophical implications of modern Marxism to quantum chromodynamics (or vice versa). *** Credits The Tain is a creation of Project Magma. In particular: Original site layout and design: Gholsbane and Infininight Current site code and implementation: Myrd and Tarous Zars Hosting: Busy B Software Site text: lank Testing and bug-smiting: too many to mention individually, but thanks to all of you! Bungie Software for creating the game we all love. Take2 Interactive as the current owners of the series. Playmyth for continuing to host the community's most popular metaserver after Bungie.net. The Myth Community at large: without the community this would be nothing. *** Help Registering Accounts Click "Register Account" and fill in the required information. Once you have submitted the information, you will be sent an email with an activation link. Following that link will make your account active, and you may then log in and upload files, post to the forum, write reviews and so on. The Forums The Tain's forums share the same database as the Project Magma forums. All that differs between the two is the skin you see depending on where you enter them. User accounts on The Tain are shared with the forums. Submitting Files Once you have created a user account, you are free to upload files to the archive, using the appropriate links. You are required to write a description of the plugin that will appear on your plugin's page on this site. Once the file has been uploaded, it will be queued for administrative approval (namely, checking that it includes a readme with your name and email and correct copyright information and does not contain anything illegal or otherwise an abuse of The Tain - see "Terms of Use - Abuse"). Once a plugin has been approved it will be made visible to the public and available for download and public review. You may edit your submission while it is pending approval, but if you edit the file after it has already been posted the change will have to be approved again. Author Accounts vs. User Accounts The Tain allows users to register "user accounts", which may be used for posting in the forums, writing reviews and general site activities. When a user uploads a file for public download, this creates an "author account", which is intermediate between the file archive and the user account. This structure allows us to link author accounts to files from the Mill's archive without the original author registering a user account. This is because many authors have left the community and may not return register user accounts in their names. See below for more information regarding linking author accounts to user accounts for Mill archives. The Mill's Archive The Mill's archive unfortunately does not contain information on who created what without decompressing every archive and checking the author of each map or plugin. If you are the author of an archive on the Mill and wish it to be linked to your user account, you can contact the administrators of The Tain, who will then attempt to verify your claim before linking it. If you happen to know who authored any particular plugins that were hosted on the Mill, but are not the author, you can contact the administration or post on our [link]Mill archive forum[/link] with the information, and the admins will try to verify this before linking an archive to an author. This author can then linked to a user account if the author registers an account at a later date. *** Contact [I dunno... I don't think this really needs much writing on it that is in any form of prose.]
