Jade 1.0 for MacintoshJade is a utility to let you create pregame and overhead map collections for Myth II on the Macintosh. It was made because I was too weak to say no, and because some misguided pride in the Mac platform wouldn't let me stand by when the PC'ers got a new tool :-) You must read and agree to what is said in the document "licence.html" (distributed with the application and this document) before you can legally use Jade. To make your pregame or overhead collection, simply drop a Windows Bitmap (.bmp) file on the application icon, or launch Jade and select an image file. Change the name and tag ID to suit you, and make sure Jade guessed right as to whether it was a pregame picture or overhead map. Then hit OK. Your new collection should be put inside the local:collections: folder in your main Myth II folder. To make your map use it, launch fear, select your mesh, and then select the new pregame or overhead map in the "collections" group of the mesh dialog. NOTE: The first color in the color table will become transparent in Myth. For an overhead map you can use this to give it rounded corners or a ragged edge. For a pregame picture this means that the dark background will show through if any of the pixels in your image uses the first color. This can make things look bad, especially since the standard mac way is to have white as the first color. So make sure you put an unused or dark (black) color first in the color table. A pregame picture should be 377x190 pixels. An overhead map should be less than 256 pixels in either dimension (to work with 3dfx). The width to hight ratio should be the same as for your color map. A large overhead can make you feel claustrophobic while playing though, so something a bit smaller, like 128x128 seems good. Unless crippling bugs are found, I don't plan to update Jade. Please direct any questions to the Vista Editor Web Forum. You can download Jade for Macintosh here.
