Welcome to the AniCONS September 2001 Icon List!

Hello, and thanks for downloading the September 2001 list! The AniCONS Icon List is a group of over 1200+ Anime icons, all compiled into one single, cross-platform icon list. We are back up after some short holidays (june to august), and hope to be able to release a list every 2 months from now on.

This is out seventh full public list distribution, and, as always, we welcome your comments (come to our HL server and drop us a note in one of our boxes, or talk (private chat, or private message) to an admin [if you can catch one! ;p]. We have been extremely overwhelmed, again, by the many submissions, and thank you all gals & guys for all those icons!

We are enforcing the following policies regarding submissions.
#1. No more than 25 submissions per person at a time.
#2. Names of files should not exceed 32 chars in length, including extenstion. ex.. (.psd)

Also, we have put in place a removal mechanism for icons. Sad as it is, we think it is necessary to remove icons now and then to prevent the list for being too big (it is never fun for modem people to leech really big files. And we did have a few troubles regarding Mac as far as size is concerned). Please please don't go complain to admins because your icon(s) was removed. We did have a hard time sorting icons, it was really painful...

As always, comments, suggestions, submissions are always welcome!

This list will work on all Hotline clients (including 1.2.3), our own client AniClient (Windows), Zombie (Mac), and some Linux clients (Fidelio for one)

Where to grab the list :
AniCONS icons list are currently distributed at AniCONS Hotline server and (soon) on our website. Connect either your HL client or your web browser there, and just grab the list! Lists are available either in a Mac format, Zombie format or a PC format. On the Hotline server, the list is in the 'current list' folder, either in 'PC', 'Zombie' or 'Mac' subfolders.

Installation instructions:
Mac OS Users : After downloading the Mac list, UnStuff it, and replace the 'User Icons' file in your Hotline Client folder with the one you just extracted. (Make sure to quit the client first!) That's all! You should be able to see the icons of people using AniCONS! To browse the icons, double click the 'User Icons' file or head over to our online viewer.
Zombie Users : After downloading the Zombie list, UnZip it and replace the 'User Icons' file in your Zombie Client's 'Addons' subfolder with the one you just extracted. (Make sure to quit the client first!) You now should be able to see AniCONS icons. To browse the icons, double click the 'User Icons' file, open up the builtin icon browser in Zombie or head over to our online viewer.
Windows Hotline Client Users : After downloading the PC list, UnZip it and replace the hotline.dat file in your Hotline Client's 'Data' subfolder with the one you just extracted. (Make sure to quit the client first!) You now should be able to see AniCONS icons. To browse the icon list, you need to download the PC Icon Viewer, available on our Hotline Server or you can use our online viewer.
AniClient Users : After downloading the PC list, UnZip it, and replace the hotline.dat file AniClient is using, wherever it is. (Make sure to exit the client first !). To browse icons, open any 'User Options' dialog, and click the icon field to display the internal viewer.
Fidelio users : Use the PC/Windows list, extract the Hotline.dat file to a convenient location. Then add this file to Fidelio's 'Dat' list (in 'Options').
You should be able to see the icons with Fidelio's integrated viewer.

To select an icon :
First find the icon you want to use and note its number, using either the integrated icon viewer (Mac/Fidelio/Zombie/AniClient), the external one (Windows), or the online browser (All OS). Then follow the instructions below.
Mac OS and Windows Hotline Users : Open your Hotline client, hold down the 'Ctrl' key and press 'F12'. A dialog titled 'Secret' should appear; in the top line enter 'icon', and in the bottom line the icon number you selected. Then press 'Execute'. Finally open the 'Options' dialog, and without changing anything click the 'Save' button. That's it!
AniClient Users : Open the 'User Options' dialog, and click the icon field to open the internal viewer. Browse to the icon you want to use, or enter its number manually, and either click 'Ok' or double-click the icon. If you are connected to a server, an alternate way is to type '/icon <number>' in the chat entry zone and press the 'Enter' key.
Zombie Users : Open your Zombie client, hold down the 'command' key and press 'I'. A dialog titled 'Icon Browser' should appear. Select your icon by clicking on the desired icon. That's it!
(Note: Due to a bug in Zombie you may have to click the icon below the actual one to be selected. Not our fault. Sorry.)
Fidelio Users : bring up the 'options' dialog, 'user info' tab, click the 'icon' button and select the one you want to use. You will have to relogin to servers for the change to take effect.

The Staff:

Acru is our resident Mac coder. He created a new Mac Icon Viewer, and updated the dats for HL 1.8.4, and helped with some new icon tools! Even if he isn't much involved in the project right now, we certainly couldn't have done without him !

He's the newest member of the staff team and has a few icons in the list. Please give him a warm welcome. :)

Immie runs AniCONS Server, the main distribution point for AniCONS, and maintains the webpage. He also compiles the list now, and decides (with help of others !) the AniCONS general policy.

That's me ^.^ I'm the resident PC coder, and currently coding AniClient. I'm also an icon reviewer, as well as icon maker (though many icons i made were rejected or removed from the list ;p).

Our Server Werewolf of sorts, the second in command, the man with (almost) all the answers.

All around contributors, icon submissions reviewers, banner designers, and misc. We couldn't have done it without them.

Special thanks to the old AnimeCORE list, Defor, Chem, Xcalibur, Yos, Holo, and all of the Eleventh Element guys for the wonderful inspiration and the March00 list of AnimeCORE to build off of. Many thanks go to you guys! ^.^
