As co-interim leader of the dwarven brigade, I figure it appropriate I write my thoughts on the myth units, the dwarves. Dwarf arty squad: A couple infantry(warriors, zerks, or myrs) and one or two dwarves(any more is pretty hard to handle). An important thing to do when your dwarf is being attacked, is to run to your protection. Naturally, the dwarf will just run in one direction away, and you're defender ends up running after the guy running after the dwarf. What you want to do, is run into your protection, or around your protection. This way, your defender doesn't have to move at all, while the attacker is still chasing the dwarf; you should kill off the attacker with only at most a hit or two inflicted on the dwarf. Now if your dwarf is overrun or about to be overrun, typically the dwarf just runs away from the too-close-to-attack enemy. This issentially renders the dwarf useless(unless the attacker is thrall, and they're easy to handle). What you want to do, is attack a farther away approaching unit, one that the dwarf can attack, and get in one last attack. If possible, you might try dropping all of your satchels as well. Atleast you will have gotten in another attack, and if you're lucky, you will detonate your satchels and lotsa bad guys. Regular dwarves also have the annoying problem of firing too short when approaching stationary enemies. This is good when the enemy is approaching, but not when they are stationary. The best way to deal with this is to have the dwarf move to within range, then target the enemy. Shoot that dwarf!!! It's astounding how many archers people will assign to killing a dwarf. And if far enough away, a simple Dwarven zig-zag can keep him alive for a while(as well as hiding behind trees). This works perfectly for distracting archers for whatever you feel like doing, be it a all-out attack, or just trading shots with your archers. I'm sure most of you know this, but I'll say it anyways. The absolute worst thing you can do with a dwarf is just leave it sitting there behind a bunch of your own troops. It's okay if you're paying attention and plan on perhaps luring in some badguys for the dwarf to attack, but to just leave him sitting there while looking elsewhere is just a formula for destruction.
