The middle push is based on the assumption that the other team will send a good sized flanking force to one side and leave a portion of their army in the middle. The idea of the middle push is to catch them when there flank is at it's farthest point then bring your full army across the middle brigde and crush the inferior force left guarding that flag. The middle push should start off with the thrall leading the way. They should be positioned in the water on on both sides of the bridge. Needless to say it is imperative you tag and destroy all wights before starting the middle push. If the bridge is blocked you should send ghols to act as scouts for any wights approaching the river upstream and tag with thrall as nesecary. The idea is the thrall will draw the archer fire (they make excellent pin cusion due to their high health). You warriors should start moving onto the bridge at the same time you set your thrall are just popping their heads out of water. Due to the speed differences your warriors and thrall should arrive at the enemy at the same time. The archers should be following right behind the warriors. Concentrate on the infantry first. If you want to put some infantry on the archer use thrall. Thrall have inferior fighting ability then that of warriors but their swings are much more powerful. If the enemy is engaged with your archers crossing the bridge 5 thral hacking at his archers can do a lot of damage. After you have cleaned up any infantry you can worry about the archers. Where are the ghols you ask? Well you can do many things with the ghols in this strat. For starters you can have them lead the warriors on the main charge and sic them on the enemy archers. You can also have them flank around the enemy and have them charge the enemy at the same time the bridge attack comes. Or if you fear a ghol flank from the enemy on your archers you can have them guard your archers backs when the main charge is on it's way across. Also don't forget to have your ghols tag flags. And remember to keep keep guards on the middle flag. It will likely be the only one you have at this point and if you lose the game on a cheap ghol charge from behind you will be pissed. How to counter this strat:Well the best way to counter this strat is to meet it defensivly in the middle and win the battle on the flanks. Get 2 dorfs to help you hold the bridge against the attack and use them on the thrall that will come out of the water. To really make your intent to hold the bank obvious have the dorf set satchel charges along the obvious path the thrall will take out of the water. This will put a definite shock into your opponent. Now concentrate on out flanking him in gradual numbers. Most likely he will send an 18 ghol flank and leave token thrall guards at the N and S flags. Tag his ghol flanking force with your own except add 3-4 warriors to yours. Then chase the ghol flank all over the map until it finally decides to fight you (10 ghols and 3-4 warriors will slaughter 18 ghols. Create two flag capturing forces north and south. If he has 4 thrall on the flag create a force of 6 thrall and 2 warriors. Just make the force enough so you know you will win. Then go for it and grab his north and south flags. If he sends forces north or south to push yours off send an equal #of yours to that flank. If you have killed the ghol flanking force send yours around to his middle flag and just let him know you are there but don't engage. This will make him nervous and force him to put a good sized guard force on that flag. Since you have the defensive position and the dorfs on the other side of the river he will be wary of a head on charge. But if you keep outflanking him he will eventually be forced to charge or move a large chunk of his force on a flank. If he does this it is time to hit him with his own medicine and begin your own middle push. If he still goes through with the middle charge make sure to keep your dorfs protected and have the concentrate on the thrall first and then the warriors. Also it would be best if you had your archers concentrate fire on the warriors. If your flank has destroyed his and is on the backside this is a good point at which to run down the archers since they have no backup. This counter is very tic tac toey and will probably try most people's patience to no end. But it is the most effective way I have found to counter this strat. Patience is the warriors greatest virtue...
